The Challenge

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns, Calgary’s events industry was forced to delay or cancel almost every calendar event in 2020. Restoring morale and reigniting the hopes of those whose businesses were affected became a top priority for the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre during this time.

THE SOLUTION

Using the hashtag #WhenWeMeetAgain – the Calgary TELUS Convention Centre sought to bring back the spark that positions Calgary’s events industry at the leading edge of the Canadian conference and events landscape. The Barrel team filmed interviews with eighteen leaders of the local events community and combined those with cinematic footage of empty downtown streets and silent, cavernous events facilities to create a video series that captured the raw emotion of these uncertain times. With twenty-one total cuts across all interviews & traditional video formats, the campaign continues to be disseminated through social media channels, restoring hope and energy to a battered industry.
