Custom Video Portal maintains customer engagement and lets the show go on during the COVID-19 Pandemic
Free House Dance Plus is one of Calgary’s leading all-ages dance studios, offering over 120 classes per week in more than 21 different dance styles. The studio prides itself on providing an inclusive experience for dancers of all skill levels, no matter their level of proficiency or age.
As an experiential, in-person operation, the COVID-19 Pandemic and resulting public health restrictions placed on Calgary businesses, coupled with social distancing measures, effectively ground the Free House Dance business to a halt. Determined to “let the show go on’, Free House needed a virtual solution to continue engaging with its loyal customer base.
While a number of competing businesses were struggling to conduct classes over unsuitable platforms like Facetime and Skype, mostly on an ad hoc and unorganized basis, the Barrel team quickly realized how ineffective this manner of operation was. In less than two weeks, the team created and deployed a custom web portal as an extension of the existing Free House website, that not only offered a full calendar of live classes that could be booked directly into customers’ calendars, but also included an archive of previously-recorded classes that could be accessed any time, on demand.
