Free House Dance Plus is one of Calgary’s leading all-ages dance studios, offering over 120 classes per week in more than 21 different dance styles. The studio prides itself on providing an inclusive experience for dancers of all skill levels, no matter their level of proficiency or age.
The Challenge
As an experiential, in-person operation, the COVID-19 Pandemic and resulting public health restrictions placed on Calgary businesses, coupled with social distancing measures, effectively ground the Free House Dance business to a halt. Determined to “let the show go on’, Free House needed a virtual solution to continue engaging with its loyal customer base.
The Solution
While a number of competing businesses were struggling to conduct classes over unsuitable platforms like Facetime and Skype, mostly on an ad hoc and unorganized basis, the Barrel team quickly realized how ineffective this manner of operation was. The team created and developed a more optimized and visually-engaging website, coupled with a custom live and on-demand class video portal, that not only offered a full calendar of live classes that could be booked directly into customers’ calendars, but also included an archive of previously-recorded classes that could be accessed any time, on demand.
